Positive: Villa Uxmal is one of those properties that exudes pride of ownership. It is beautifully designed and decorated, the furniture is comfortable, and the pool and yard are lovely. The location is quiet and serene. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the action, while providing a quiet place to rest and relax for families. We could walk to local cafes or to the large grocery store (and easily find a cab to take home). Lots of birds and wildlife to watch while sitting on the patio with a cup of coffee in the morning.

Negative: The handful of items we didn’t like, are all easy to fix and probably because the house seems newer on the rental market. (We’ve been renting vacation homes for 15 years, so these are best practices we’ve picked up along the way.) 1) A house manual would help! We forget to ask questions at check in and a manual outlining how to’s is a help. Topics like drinking water, grocery store and favorite restaurant locations, activity tips, emergency clinic contacts, number for a taxi/transportation company, pool cleaning schedule, trash schedule, how to run any appliances like dishwashers, laundry, Mini splits. Some of these vary by country so your guest may not know. 2) Helpful items: Starter oils and spices for cooking. Dish soap for cleaning up. Guests who cook (not all do!) appreciate a good kitchen, which this house has! Having some basic salt, pepper, oil, coffee, in the pantry is useful when new guests arrive. Guests often buy some basic food, but may forget to buy standard seasonings and clean up supplies.
